Political Scientists often try to explain human behavior by rational means.
However, human beings are essentially biological beings – they have a history
of millions of years of evolutionary development.
Human beings are social beings – and their social behavior has been formed
over a long timespan.
Explaining apparently irrational behavior of voters and political actors
with rational means often doesn’t yield sufficiently accurate results
particularly if we want to predict future developments.
Therefore, Political Scientists and Political Actors should look into
the Psychology of Politics in order to have tools at hand to interpret
reality that is otherwise impossible to make sense of.
